Often I have found myself going against the mainstream grain on a lot of subjects in my life which may have been spawned from my lack of confidence in news organizations and the unproductive conversations they create. Unbeknowst to myself, this stance led me to develop a talent for seeing through the news and see situations as they are. This talent was on full display when I observed the conversations leading up to 'The Decision,' and certainly the conversation after. When Lebron James made the choice to take his talents to South Beach I seemed to be one of the few praising him for his choice, as I knew that this was going to be a basketball symphony orchestrated by one of the greatest basketball minds: Pat Riley.
When this decision was made, there was nothing but negative rhetoric surrounding LeBron and I often wondered why. In the world of greedy athletes, we saw a selfless act by all three prized free agents to put this Team together. If it was truly about the money, LeBron would have stayed in Cleveland because that is all that they could have offered him other than a new coach. As a student of the game, he understood in order to win numerous championships he had to surround himself with exceptional talent. Magic had Kareem, Bird had McHale and Jordon had Scottie. Hell, even Clyde Drextler had Hakeem and Robinson had Duncan. James forfeited $30 Million dollars because he knew that James and Williams (Moe for those who dont know) or James and Verajoa just wasnt going to cut it.
And lost in all the hooplah was the mind behind the decision; Pat Riley. The Miami Heat have one of the most stable front offices in the league due to Riley and this is the reason why the Knicks and the Bulls did not suffice for the King. So this blog is dedicated to the concept of pure unselfish basketball as these players have already embodied by each taking a pay cut, a move that I'm sure made Mike Krzyzewski proud. This blog will be dedicated to the 2010-2011 Miami Heat season with a blatantly biased opinion and will serve as your number one news source for the Miami Heat. Hope you enjoy! Go Heat!
